Royals' Season Ends in Game 7 OT Against Rockets

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals were defeated by the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday night and fell to the Rockets in Round 2 of the best-of-seven series 4-3.

Kelowna’s Calvin Thurkauf scored the game winner 5:56 into the first overtime. The Rocket’s Justin Kirkland tallied his second of the game with 0.2 seconds left to force extra time. The Royals’ goals were registered by Tyler Soy and Alex Forsberg.

Royals’ goaltender Coleman Vollrath stopped 22 of the 25 shots directed his way. The Rockets’ Michael Herringer made 28 saves on the 30 pucks he faced.

Victoria went 1/3=33.3% on the powerplay. Kelowna held a 0/4=0.0% mark.
